The UK has almost 29 million homes and they are amongst the oldest and least energy efficient houses in Europe. Increasing amounts of precious energy is wasted in heating and cooling these leaky buildings.

In order for the UK to meet legal obligations under the Climate Change Act and commitments under the Paris Agreement to stay below 1.5C, emissions from heating and powering homes must be reduced by 78% in less than 15 years and then to zero by 2050.

Over 20% of the total UK carbon equivalent emissions comes from our homes and public buildings. As well as decarbonising our energy sources, almost every home needs to be upgraded, or retrofitted, to some extent to improve energy efficiency. That's one home every 35 seconds from now to 2050. The scale of the task can not be underrated.

This is why we need you!

We are launching this campaign to highlight the extent of the problem of emissions from homes.

Ultimately we hope to support / inspire / empower anyone with an interest in how they can be part of the solution.

What is retrofit?

All the improvements add up to significantly reduce the amount of energy needed to occupy that building. It has many co benefits including improved comfort, health and indoor air quality.
